Bruce Wayne | Percussion & drums
With over forty years of playing and teaching percussion, Bruce Wayne brings a tremendous amount of professional experience to his teaching. Mr. Wayne has performed a myriad of styles in a variety of settings including The Zilker Park Jazz Festival and Carnegie Hall. He has played with many artists and ensembles including Mitch Watkins, Freefall, Pat Travers, Ray Benson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Dr. James Polk, Jay Hogenbarton, Floyd Domino, Jumpstart, Gary P. Nunn to name but a few. He holds a Bachelor of Music Performance degree in Percussion from Texas State University and has studied with a variety of professional percussionists including Rod Morgenstein, Jim Hall, Alan Shinn, and Genaro Gonzalez. He is currently the percussion specialist at San Marcos Academy and an active member of the Percussive Arts Society. He currently plays in a variety of musical situations including a Big Band Jazz Ensemble, an eleven piece high energy dance band, and a Jazz trio. Mr. Wayne has always maintained a private teaching practice in addition to his other work. He has taught students of all ages at all levels, and loves sharing his knowledge and experiences with others. His teaching goals run parallel to his performance goals: to be musically versatile and technically proficient, while having an enormous amount of fun in the process.
Denise Wayne Damron | Piano, flute & voice
Denise Wayne Damron graduated with highest honors from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree, All-Level Certification. She has taught piano, flute and voice to students of all ages since 1980 in her home studio as well as in public, private and homeschool settings. Ms. Damron (sister of the late Austin musician Allen Wayne Damron) has performed live at Carnegie Hall, on German National Radio, and in concerts across Spain, Germany and the United States. Aside from teaching privately, she currently serves as choral director, assistant band director and fine arts assistant at San Marcos Academy and choir director at her church in New Braunfels. She has worked extensively coaching instrumental and choral students in multiple school districts in central Texas in preparation for UIL Solo & Ensemble and has accompanied them on piano at contest and in concert as well. Ms. Damron is herself a solo pianist, flutist and vocalist for weddings and other special events, and she enjoys selecting music she likes to move to in the fitness classes she teaches. She delights in sharing with others a gift which will bring them joy throughout their lifetime.
